Faith is expressed in many ways in Japan. This morning, we participated in a fire ceremony at a traditional shukubo (temple) in a small mountaintop town. It was raining outside and the chants from the monks made the entire experience so positive. #Funtravelog_Japan

We had the streets of Koyasan all to ourselves at 6:00 AM on a rainy morning. As the winds blew sakura petals across the pathways, we walked around to take a look at neighboring temples. Each temple had a stellar entranceway, and most were decorated with seasonal flowers and statues.
